I’ve turned comments back on, for the time being. I want to see if the new anti-spam protections now available in WordPress 2 (and especially the Akismet plugin) will preserve me from being absolutely overwhelmed with comment and trackback spam as I was before.

It’ll be interesting to see how it works for you. I’m using WP2.0 as well, and am not certain I have spam protections set up properly.
But it will be nice to be able to comment, if only for a bit. And to say thanks for interesting readings – my adviser (Phillip Thurtle) pointed me this way over a year ago, and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed reading your thoughts!
