I finally saw that Michael Jackson interview everyone’s been talking about. Quite amazing, to the point where it virtually leaves me speechless…
So, let me just note a few things:
*I actually believe that Jackson believes everything he says, even when he is clearly lying (like when he says he had just two nose jobs, and no plastic surgery on any other part of his face).
*Jackson’s “fill-the-world-with-love” rationale for having 12-year-old boys sleep innocently in his bed with him is even creepier than outright pedophilia would be.
*As for making his own kids wear masks in public, dyeing the six-year-old’s hair blond, and feeding the baby only through a cloth placed over said baby’s face (out of who knows what crackpot reason)–the way Michael raises his children is one of the scariest things I have ever seen in my life.
In short, I’m in awe of this level of madness, in somebody who not only functions, but seems to command a considerable degree of adoration from at least some fans. Of course, the money helps; nobody who wasn’t that rich and that famous would be allowed to get away with all this stuff, let alone have the resources to do it. It’s amazing what global-capitalist celebrity culture can do to people.
